Take a look at some of the most frequently asked questions that people have about interstate moving, and always remember that if you have additional questions or concerns, our relocation specialists are just a click or a call away.

  1. How do you determine my interstate moving costs when you create a long distance moving estimate?
Explanation: We send an in-home estimator toyour home or office to see first-hand what you want to move, and evaluate the level of effort and potential complications involved with your particular relocation circumstances.
On-site visits allow us to provide our customers with the most accurate moving quote possible, because our professional estimators can then personally evaluate the complexity of your move. Calculating your final moving cost is derived from various factors such as the weight of your shipment, the state to which you are moving, the amount of packing materials necessary to protect your move, your storage needs (if any), and any additional insurance/valuation on your shipment.
  2. Do you give interstate estimates based on cubic feet?
Explanation: No, we prepare weight-based moving estimates, using pounds as the unit of measurement.
  3. How long do I have to decide on an estimate once you provide it to me?
Explanation: We can guarantee that your moving estimate will be fixed for at least 7 days (on average) if you request it enough time before your actual moving date (usually our clients book at least a month in advance). The reason we can’t reserve the price indefinitely is because other customers may decide to book a moving truck and crew before you do, in which case there may be fewer available resources for your move. If all our trucks and crews become booked for your desired moving date, then the price of your move will of course no longer apply.
  4. Do you carry moving insurance?
    Explanation
: We value the safety of our clients’ belongings and firmly believe in insuring items of high value. We provide a basic moving insurance based on the weight of your shipment, and we also recommend that you check with your home owner’s insurance provider, or business insurance provider to see if they will cover your shipment.
  5. Do you charge more if loading and unloading from the truck takes a lot of time?
Explanation: Loading and unloading is always included in your quote when we build your estimate. Moreover, for long distance moves we provide a fixed flat rate, so loading and unloading is already built into the price of the move.
  6. Do you have professional moving equipment to speed up the job?
Explanation: Yes, we have high quality moving equipment which helps us increase the quality, safety, and speed of your move. Take a look at some of the
  7. Do you take responsibility if something is damaged or lost when the move is settled?
Explanation: If you notice any damage or lost items during or after your move, please report them directly to us as soon as possible, so we can process your claim. Our basic insurance covers your shipment while in transit, and our moving insurance provider also provides more comprehensive insurance on your move for your more expensive items. Timely reporting will lead to the best chance of satisfactory resolution of your claim. If an item is lost, the sooner you report it, the better the chance we’ll find it. If an item is damaged, the sooner you report it to us the easier it will be for us to process your claim.
  8. Do you provide boxes for the move? If so, will it cost me more?
Explanation: Yes. We provide professional-grade moving boxes for your move if you need them. We can factor them into your moving estimate prior to your move, or provide you with moving supplies during your move itself. If you need additional moving supplies beyond what we offered you in your moving estimate, then they are available to you on the day of your move for an additional charge.
  9. Do you have additional charges for transferring breakable and delicate items? What about heavier items?
Explanation: This is where our on-site visit plays a major role in determining your final cost. An on-site estimator can certainly take into account any unusually heavy or breakable items into consideration when creating your moving quote. In short, breakable items can be more expensive only in that it takes more packing materials to protect them, while heavier items may simply add more labor time to the cost of your move. Some heavier items such as pianos have special rates associated with the cost of their move, because they require specialized equipment, and a specially trained crew to properly handle their move.
  10. Do you offer various forms of payment for an interstate move?
Explanation: We accept most forms of certified funds, such as all major credit cards, cashier’s checks, postal money orders, etc. We also accept cash payments. Unfortunately, we do not acknowledge personal checks for interstate moves.
